Balancing a Positive Attitude

 

How often do you wake up and instantly feel bitter? Every day I do my best to wake up with a smile on my face but some days it can be one of the hardest things to do. On days like today, when they tell you it’s finally spring and a snow storm hits. Or when you wake up on a Monday, after a night of restless sleep, and you have to go to work with no time to stop for coffee. The tiniest thing can set your attitude for the whole day.

Despite the everyday little things and the life altering big things, the best thing you can do is find a positive mind set. You may not even notice that your attitude is sour. How you’re feeling on the inside is a direct reflection on the outside and it’s actually proven that by having a positive attitude it will lead to happiness and success.

Everyone’s life is filled with situations that deserve a few mournful sighs but being in that mindset doesn’t fix the crap that filled your day. The best thing you can do is cry or vent and then quickly switch your perspective.

Over the last few weeks, I have had difficulty putting on my usual genuine smile. The main reason for that is because Burger Week is here and I can’t enjoy too many of those delicious cheese burgers. But in all seriousness, with adjusting to my new diet,  a minor running injury and daily stresses, I have found it hard to keep my attitude high. By following a few of these steps, I have been able to take charge of my attitude and make a difference in how I want to take on the day.

I found this picture on Pinterest last week with 7 steps to be an Ambassador of Positivity. As cheesy as they sound, it can flip your attitude in most situations. If you change one small aspect of your day, whether that is smiling while you’re in the shower, or listening to upbeat music on your drive to work, you can create a happy start to your day.

 And remember, you don’t know what someone could be going through when they may have snapped a quick remark your way. Do your best to not let it affect you and respond in a positive way. Your smile may turn their whole day around.
