“If you come home as happy as you leave, you have had a good vacation.”
Glen and I recently took a trip to New Brunswick’s beautiful resort, The Algonquin. We took this trip for work but from the moment we arrived, it instantly felt like a vacation.
We walked through the big front doors to be greeted not only by incredibly friendly staff but also Sydney, their property dog! As soon as a hotel uses an animal as their greeter, I always fall in love. There’s just something about a pet walking around that makes me feel at home.
After checking in, we decided to take a walking tour around St. Andrews. Since it was Sunday night, most shops were closed but we happened to find a cute ice cream shop and as most of you know, I can’t resist the obvious destiny of ice cream.
After a walk around the charming town of St. Andrew’s and a couple whirls down the waterslide, we enjoyed an amazing dinner served by Daniel in Braxton’s dining room on the resort. The Milenese flat bread was delicious, topped with San Danielle prosciutto, arugula and parmesan. We also indulged in some local seafood and brisket!
Surprisingly enough, the highlight of our trip was a tour around their 18-hole golf course that is currently being redesigned. Neither of us are golfers but taking a ride in a golf cart along the course was a lot of fun!
I could have easily spent a whole week at this beautiful property. The staff was friendly, the food was delicious and the property took our breath away. We will definetly be returning this summer to see St. Andrew’s in its prime!
