Make Advent Special

Is there anything better than counting down to Christmas? There’s so much joy during the days of advent, whether it’s a tiny chocolate, small presents or just spending time together. The 25 days before the holidays are certainly a magical time.

This year, I decided to surprise Glen with a handmade calendar that included a different activity every day. I decorated a garlard that hangs on our bookshelf and hung 25 small envelopes, each containing a piece of paper with a holiday activity written on it. There was a variety of activities including “Enjoy a Holiday Drink”, “Send a Christmas Card” or “Dance to Christmas Music”.

Yes, it’s cheesy but we’ve had a lot of fun bringing our traditions to life for advent. As married young adults, there’s not a whole lot of excitement leading up to the holidays (aside from the rum & egg nog). So we’ve been doing our best to find the joy in all areas of the holidays and lucky for me, my husband is just as cheesy as I am.

If you want to make your own homemade advent calendar, I decided to share my envelope inserts for you to print, click here for the PDF.

I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.
