Self Care

As I sit here on the couch, curled up in a heated blanket with a cup of coffee, I wonder if I’ve mastered this ‘Self Care’ thing that everyone keeps talking about.

But have I really? I know how to relax and treat myself but do I know how to take care of myself on a daily basis?

I love the idea of Self Care Sunday but I honestly believe self care should be everyday. You are beautiful, strong and deserving of the best, every single day.

Now I’m not talking about treating yourself to cake all the time. I’m talking about genuinely caring for yourself by fueling your body, moving in fun and energetic ways and surrounding youself with love daily.

You can’t pour from an empty cup – we’ve all heard that before but it’s often forgotten when our ‘to do’ list gets too long. We forget to eat lunch, so we grab a chocolate bar at the corner store or a donut at the drive through. When our families need us, we forget that our body needs us too.

Here’s how I practice self care every day:

  •  I start my day strong by eating a healthy, balanced breakfast
  • I take 10 minutes a day to read personal development & 2 minutes a day for meditation
  • I move my body for atleast 30 minutes a day, even if it’s only a walk around the block

It doesn’t take much to take care of yourself. If you can promise me atleast one healthy meal and 30 minutes of movement, I promise you’ll start to see a difference in the way you feel and care for the others around you.
